Storm-hit Kansai airport terminal to resume some worldwide flights Saturday

Kansai Worldwide Airport terminal in western Japan, that was closed after being broken through the effective Storm Jebi, will resume some worldwide flights on Saturday, the airport terminal operator stated Friday. 電子機票

Yoshiyuki Yamaya, Chief executive officer from the airport's operator, Kansai Airports, unveiled plans for that partial resumption of worldwide flights in a press conference. Some domestic flights in the airport terminal in Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture, also started again on Friday.

Worldwide flights uses the relatively unaffected Runway B and Terminal No. 2.Yamaya stated, "Airline carriers [which will resume worldwide flights"> is going to be firms that have previously used Terminal No. 2." He particularly stated that Peach Aviation, a minimal-cost carrier based at Kansai Worldwide, is getting ready to fly worldwide routes again.

Kansai Airports also promises to partly reopen flooded Runway A and Terminal No. 1 inside a week.Some domestic flights started again on Friday using Runway B and Terminal No. 2. A flight ticket run by Peace Aviation departed for Niigata at 11:50 a.m. on Friday, becoming the very first domestic flight because the airport terminal was closed.Traffic around the bridge linking the airport terminal with an artificial island towards the landmass also partly started again after 5:00 a.m. on Friday. Traffic grew to become possible both in directions.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Keiichi Ishii announced recovery plans for that airport terminal on Friday.Based on the plans, seriously broken Runway A will resume operations in mid-September on the tentative basis. Train services towards the airport terminal will restart in four weeks' time in the earliest.
